‘Money Lover’ by Magdalena Bay
Not content with releasing 2 EPs already this year in the fizzy and effervescent Day/Pop and its neon-lit counterpoint, Night/Pop, LA duo Magdalena Bay are back, tongues planted firmly in cheek, with “Money Lover”; an “anthem for people who aren’t into lavish displays of wealth.”
“You’re like a big shot. So what? Please understand, I don’t care” singer Mica Tenenbaum dispenses to withering effect, as shades-wearing instrumentalist Matthew Lewin struts behind her, giving his best idgaf face.
This is the energy we should all be bringing into 2019.

Timothy Tebordo - Learn to Run
/ My bud Tim just dropped this sweet record right before the holidays and it’s been sitting in my ‘to listen to’ list since then. Waiting until after the holidays was a big mistake. He wrote: “While preparing to have a kid, I listened to classic Brazilian albums, watched classic Italian films, and thought about love. Then i wrote some songs.” The whole album is crystalline from top to bottom, right to left. As a runner, this track made the most sense to me, but there are a clutch of other solid songs to dig your ears into.
